Welcome to this Hebrew Calligraphy Gallery which showcases some of my work. I am a professional calligrapher in both Hebrew and English (Latin alphabet) calligraphy, calligraphy teacher and a Sofer STaM.

Besides (or rather parallel with) an artistic journey, calligraphy has also been for me a spiritual  journey - you can read a description of some of that on the JOURNEY link or hear a RADIO INTERVIEW with me talking about it (warning - speaking is not my strong point). Related to all this is some interesting (at least for me) work I have been doing in Abstract Hebrew Calligraphy which you can also view and read about. There is some more information about me on the (rather dry) BIO link off the home page.

The image galleries are rather straightforward. The KETUBOT link showcases some of my calligraphic ketubah designs. My Calligraphic artworks can be seen in the galleries - the division between the Modern and Traditional Galleries is a bit artificial but in general the Modern one shows more of my more recent and experimental pieces whereas the traditional shows generally older, more conservative (and certainly more legible) work. .
For pure script lovers I have shown some samples of some of the traditional scripts I use in Judaica work. You can also link to some Commerical  work I've done.

On the typographic front I have developed a lyircal Hebrew font called Shir and published a limited edition book of Shir Hashirim - the Song of Songs (a.k.a. The Song of Solomon).

For those who want to study Hebrew Calligraphy but cannot get to a teacher, I offer a Hebrew Calligraphy Correspondence Course.

What I believe my works have in common is a certain simplicity - the challenge of designing without reliance on illustration, underlying a belief in pure calligraphy, in the power of the letters and words themselves (well, sometimes accompanied by abstract marks),  to make a visually and emotionally meaningful statement.

I hope you enjoy the site and please feel free to write me and send comments.
